It is a profession often viewed as honorable, adventurous, and heroic. It is very easy to see why many people aspire to become Firefighters. Men and women. Get one thing straight, we are not hero's. I believe it was a calling to this job. And many of us believe it is what we were born to do. If you come into this job "trying to be a hero" you will not last. You have an opportunity to choose this profession. You have a choice to apply. So understand... Once it's all said and done. You sign the dotted line, raise your hand and shout your oath proudly, and you get your fire station assignment...you are not a hero. Putting your life on the line is what you are expected to do!
